A Bit About Coach Crystal
MEET GOALIE COACH, CRYSTAL VERRIER!
A North Smithfield High School graduate,Crystal started playing hockey during the inaugural year of the RIISL in 2002 during her Sophomore year. She picked up the position of goalie rather quickly due to her athletic background as a celebrated soccer and softball player. She attended multiple goalie clinics in RI, such as the DBL Clinic as well as the Brown Hockey Clinic. She is a multi-year recipient of the RI Girls Hockey 2nd Team All Division, the Providence Journal 2nd Team All State, and the Jerry Zifcak MVP award. During her senior year of highschool she was announced as an assistant captain due to her superior leadership skills on and off the ice. After high school Crystal found there were not many opportunities for women to continue to play other than going to college. Regardless of the setback she followed her passion for hockey and became the first woman to join her men's in-line league. She grew a great reputation within the league influencing other women to follow their passion and join as well. She eventually became the first and only female referee in the league where she stayed for 12 years. In her free time Crystal is a dedicated fundraiser for a non-profit program called, Run to Homebase, and to date has raised over $20,000. Crystal also helps coaches her neices softball team.
